Blog #3|Wedding Wednesday💍

Welcome to the first of the Wedding Wednesday Series!

There are two types of women in the world, the ones that have had their wedding planned since they were twelve and the ones that would figure it out when we got there. I happen to be the latter. Don’t get me wrong, I remember having conversations with my sister about “I wonder what my future husband is doing right now” or “What do you think he’s going to look like”? But planning my entire wedding out decades in advance, not a chance. Then I met my future husband. We got engaged last November, on the edge of a cliff, at sunset, in La Jolla, California and I couldn’t have even dreamed that day to be as incredible as it was. I hope that every woman gets to experience a moment that magical in their lives!

After the initial engagement excitement fades, then comes the realization that you have a wedding to plan! This can go one of two ways, it’ll be the most exciting time of your new life or it will be the stressful nightmare you hear people talk about, I’ve witnessed both scenarios from friends that have gone through the planning two different ways. This series is going to be the tips and tricks to make wedding planning a breezeđŸ’đŸŒ

Rule 1 | Get a Planner

I recommend any from The Knot. It has a complete break down and timeline for everything you need to accomplish over the next year! From dress fittings to Save-The-Dates to pre-wedding skin prep, it’s all there!

Rule 2 | Define Your Non-negotiables

Every couple is going to have things they aren’t willing to sacrifice on their wedding day. For us, it was food, music and photography. Those were the three things we were willing to spend money on and spend the time researching the right people for us.

Rule 3 | Set a Budget

This might be the hardest part. Everything starts to add up REALLY fast and before you know it you’re thousands of dollars over your budget. Pick a number, give yourself a small buffer and stick to it!

Rule 4 | Plan Your Honeymoon Early

Lets be honest, this is the best part! Take your time on researching where you want to go, set money aside and book your trip early! This will give you time for passports, excursion planning and saving some extra spending money for your trip!

Rule 5 | You Aren’t Going To Please Everyone, Don’t Even Try

There are going to be dozens of people with an opinion, from family to friends to even your vendors. Don’t let them sway you from your decisions! Listen to the few people who are close to you and the people whose opinions you value.

Rule 6 | Enjoy The Process

This is the one time you get to experience this! Embrace every part of the process with your fiancé! Everything will work out perfectly on your wedding day, enjoy the ride.

My first mission was engagement pictures! I had definitely looked forward to that for months! My fiancĂ© and I planned our different locations weeks in advance, we were researching photographers for months and finally found the perfect one. (If you’re looking for a photographer, I will link all of ours below,

along with some of her work from our session!)

Because what’s fall without Leaves?

Hi everyone! Welcome back! So its the end of August and fall is sneaking up on us! That means holiday parties, family get togethers but most of all, Bath and Body Works or I guess White Barn officially, has debuted all of their fall candle scents! This is literally my favorite part of fall. There is something about fall scents that bring back so many memories from crisp fall days in Boston.

If you live in a city where you are blessed with a fall, you know what I am talking about. The first days where you can throw on your fringe leather jacket and those suede booties, that if you’re anything like me you bought at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in the middle of the scorching summer and have counted down the days until its socially acceptable to wear them, is the best day. Living in South Florida for the past eight years , we don’t get too many days where the temperature falls below 70 degrees so pretending is the way we roll now. I don’t know about you but I have a obsession of lighting all of the candles in the house at once, dropping the AC down to sweater weather and baking cookies to at least make it feel like fall inside.

My all time favorite fall candle is, Leaves. If you’ve ever wondered what heaven smells like, I imagine it’s this candle. A few of my other favs, Pumpkin Spice, Autumn Woods, Golden Citrus, Rose Water and Ivy and Pumpkin Apple. Also on a side note, Bath and Body works has totally up’d their packaging game. The fancy glass blends in no matter what your decor preference is. They’re also buy three, get three free right now, so stock up while you can!

Fall Blog Candle #2 big

Welcome to Southern Honey and…FALL!

Hi, Happy Monday! So we are just getting started, but we have some awesome content on the way! This week is all about Fall, if you can even believe that it’s already here! Growing up just outside of Boston, MA, fall is one of my all time favorite seasons. From the football to Pumpkin Spice latte’s to the endless amount of fall scented candles I will be overflowing our house with from now until Thanksgiving, there is nothing better than the fashion, foods, smells…you get the point. This weeks posts will be everything you need from fall candles to cookie recipes to the easiest way to transition your beloved summer clothes to a cozier but totally fashion forward fall wardrobe. We may even be throwing in a Wedding Wednesday series, so if you’re in the midst of planning your wedding (trust me I understand what you’re going through) catch up with us on Wednesday’s for tips and tricks to make planning the time of your life!
